I was born and raised in Texas and lived in California for several years before moving to Portland, Oregon.  

I grew up in a small community that had no libraries or bookstores.  There were no books in my home either, but once I learned to read, I fell in love with reading and read whatever I could get my hands on. I now write the stories I would have loved to read as a child, multicultural stories with characters that readers from all backgrounds can relate to.

I'm so glad that Portland has such a great library system and wonderful bookstores because a day rarely goes by that I don't spend part of it reading.  Of course, I also try to write every single day, even it it's just a revision of what I wrote the day before.

Other than books and children, I also love animals.  One of my cats likes to join me when I practice my yoga.
